Rogano
11 Exchange Place, Glasgow, G1 3AN,
0141 248 4055
Website: www.roganoglasgow.com

In 1935, as the great Cunard liner ‘Queen Mary’ took shape on the Clyde, a restaurant was refitted in the same Art Deco style – and a Glasgow legend Rogano was born.
Rogano is the oldest surviving restaurant in Glasgow. For over seventy five years the chefs have dedicated themselves to the delicate art of cooking and serving fish and seafood from the Scottish waters. For luxury, elegance and fine fish and seafood: salmon, langoustines, scallops, lobster, halibut and oysters - faultlessly prepared and presented in a classic style.
For the inimitable style, and local clientele, Rogano is a friendly place, with a special welcome for the traveller, being perfectly situated with close proximity to the city’s most elegant shops and many of the leading cultural venues.
The Café Rogano is ideal for lunch after a shopping trip, meeting friends or for a pre- or after-theatre supper. The Oyster Bar also serves lighter meals and sandwiches all day.

La Lanterna
35 Hope Street, Glasgow, G2 6AE
0141 221 9160
Website: www.lalanterna-glasgow.co.uk

A traditional family operated Italian restaurant, still in the hands of the original owners after 40 years, La Lanterna attracts professionals during the day, but in the evening assumes a chameleon mantle as it bustles with families and visitors to the city. The kitchen provides seafood from the local market and has grilled lobster and langoustines as the house specialties. The interior has wooden beams and warm colours providing a welcoming setting for romantic dinners and business lunches.
Deep fried fresh squid in a lemon batter with garlic mayo, grilled breast of chicken on ribbon pasta with smoked Italian ham and herbs, rich beef stew marinated in red wine and rosemary served with puree potatoes and puff pastry and pan fried escalope of veal with spaghetti Napoli are just a few suggestions of the menu. Alternatively try the homemade ravioli which is a treat for anyone.

The Bank
443 Clarkston Road, Glasgow, G44 3LL
0141 637 8461
Website: www.maclay.com

Housed in the building formerly a TSB Bank, the appropriately named Bank has become a popular haunt in Glasgow’s Southside since it opened in 2006. Spacious and well lay out; it is a good venue for a family meal or just relaxing in the bar after a long day. Traditional pub grub is served in the establishment. With a fairly interesting menu with different-sized portions at reasonable prices, for under a fiver there are small dishes to share, baguettes, wraps or baked potatoes available from the light lunch menu. On the main menu there are items such as sticky BBQ chicken wings slathered in a rich, tangy sauce, Cajun chicken breast lightly marinated in mild Cajun spices and veggie burgers Desserts are a bit more restricted, but the chocolate fudge cake is tempting with lashings of chocolate sauce and a dollop of cream.
