The Gallery of Modern Art opened in 1996 and is housed in an elegant, neo-classical building in the heart of Glasgow city centre. The building has been refurbished to house the city’s contemporary art collection. It offers a thought-provoking programme of temporary exhibitions and workshops. There are displays by local and international artists. It also addresses contemporary social issues through its major biannual projects.
The rooftop café is now a dedicated Education and Access studio, facilitating workshops and artist’s talks for all ages.
In the basement is the Library, complete with a café, free Internet access terminals, multimedia, art, and general book-lending facilities. The Gallery of Modern Art is the second most visited contemporary art gallery outside London, so don’t miss your chance at visiting.

Scotland Street School Museum

The museum was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1903. The museum presents the history of education in Scotland as a genuine school experience. It is also an essential destination for Mackintosh enthusiasts and all those interested in the history of design.
At the museum learn the story of Scotland Street Public School and the developments in education in Scotland. There is a combination of displays, audio-visuals and reconstructed and Three restored classrooms.
The classroom reconstructions show the changing face of the schoolroom from the Victorian era through to the classroom of the fifties and sixties.
You can listen to and read former pupils' recollections of their schooldays, covering topics such as classroom discipline, evacuation the Second World War, school attire, special activities and playground games.
You can even try out your design skills in the Mackintosh room on the hand-on interactive displays and touch- screen Computers.
