Millennium Square

Millennium Square was Leeds’ flagship project to mark the year 2000. Funded by Leeds City Council and the Millennium Commission, the £12 million project transformed the old Mandela Gardens into one of Europe’s most modern and impressive civic spaces.
The site includes areas for staged performances such as live performances, concerts, weekend markets, beer tents and ice-skating in the winter. The area also provides a great forum for broadcasting major national and international events such as the World Cup football tournament, Wimbledon and opera.

Amongst 500 acres of historic gardens, parkland and lakes is the stunning setting for Yorkshire Sculpture Park. This is an international centre for modern and contemporary sculptures which are enjoyed by thousands of visitors each year. Today this spectacular setting brings together art and nature for visitors to discover and enjoy. There are changing exhibitions, four indoor galleries an all-weather visitor centre with restaurant, coffee bar and shop for everyone to enjoy.

Kirkstall Abbey

Kirkstall Abbey is one of the most complete and best preserved examples of a medieval Cistercian abbey in Britain. The Abbey recently received a £5.5 million from the Lottery Fund to help preserve this iconic landmark in Leeds.

It is set in wonderful parkland along the banks of the River Aire, Kirkstall Abbey boast historic architecture amid a haven of wildlife and greenery.
